METAIRIE, La. (AP) – Saints coach Sean Payton says he’ll wait until Sunday to decide whether hobbled running back Pierre Thomas plays against Carolina.
Thomas missed his second-straight practice on Thursday with a left ankle injury that occurred during the Saints’ 27-24 overtime loss to Atlanta last Sunday.
While Payton seldom allows offensive players to suit up for games when they’ve missed practice throughout the previous week, he says Thomas knows the Saints’ system well enough to play without taking part in the installation of the game plan.
The Saints are already playing without injured running back Reggie Bush.
Meanwhile, starting safety Roman Harper participated in individual drills, but was held out of team work with a sore hamstring.
