INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka is offering to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the head of the NFL Players Association, DeMaurice Smith, to discuss a new collective bargaining agreement.
In a letter obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday, Trumka writes that it would be a “immediate and important” step to saving the 2011 NFL season.
Trumka is calling on Smith to provide details about player salaries, pensions and health care benefits. Trumka also wants Goodell to provide access to the profit or loss statements, expenses and additional financial information about NFL teams.
The letter is dated Sept. 27.
