JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver says he would consider playing games in Orlando if the NFL expands the regular season.
Weaver said Wednesday that if the league restructures its schedule from 16 games to 17 or 18 – a move that could happen before the 2012 season – the Jaguars would try to play at least one out-of-market game. He said Orlando is the only viable option.
Weaver also said Orlando would need to revamp the Citrus Bowl or build a new stadium to make it happen. Weaver’s comments were first reported in the Orlando Sentinel.
The Jaguars have struggled to sell tickets and are looking for ways to boost attendance in a difficult economy. About 17,000 season-ticket holders decided not to renew in 2009.
