ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -Lane Kiffin is finally out as coach of the Oakland Raiders.
The team announced the decision to fire Kiffin on Tuesday after weeks of speculation.
The Raiders say the move was made for cause, meaning they will likely try not to pay Kiffin the remainder of his salary owed under his contract. Kiffin’s agent had no immediate comment.
Kiffin’s firing comes four games into his season. He had a 5-15 record with the Raiders, including a 1-3 mark this season.
No immediate successor has been named. The next coach will by Oakland’s fifth in the past six seasons.
The firing was first reported by ESPN.com and NFL.com.
