SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith left Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks in the first quarter with an injured right shoulder. His return was questionable.
Smith, who has taken every snap for the 49ers the past two seasons, was driven hard to the ground on a sack by Seattle's Rocky Bernard on San Francisco's first drive.
Trent Dilfer came out for the second series, taking his first snaps in a regular-season game since playing for Cleveland in 2005.
