ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -The last time JaMarcus Russell had a performance this poor, he sat out the next week with a knee injury and then put together the best stretch of his NFL career to end last season.
With Russell coming off a similarly awful game Sunday against Denver, Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable isn’t ready to make a quarterback change at this point.
Cable says the Raiders need to stay the course and have more problems than just Russell’s performance. He completed 12 of 21 passes for 61 yards and two interceptions in Sunday’s 23-3 loss to Denver that dropped Oakland to 1-2 on the season.
Cable did say that if the problems in the passing game aren’t eventually fixed, there will have to be a change.
