EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – This might not be the best time for a break for the Minnesota Vikings.
They picked up their first victory over the Detroit Lions, and the passing game is still a work in progress. Coach Brad Childress said Monday he doesn’t believe the bye week will create extra rust. Linebacker Ben Leber was among the players, however, who said they’d prefer to keep playing and sustain some momentum.
The Vikings are adjusting their offense again under Childress. The West Coast system has stayed the same, but defenses are playing the Vikings different. Last season, despite Brett Favre’s success throwing the ball, opponents consistently stacked the line of scrimmage to stop the run. This year they’ve been more focused on the pass.
