DETROIT (AP) -Lions linebacker Ernie Sims was inactive with an injured right shoulder against the Washington Redskins.
Sims did not play Sunday for the first time in his career, ending a starting streak of 50 games for the player whose jersey number is 50.
DeAndre Levy started in Sims’ place, putting five rookies in the starting lineup for Detroit as it tried to snap its 19-game losing streak.
Detroit drafted Sims from Florida State with the ninth overall pick three years ago. He is the only player on the active roster former general manager Matt Millen drafted in a five-year stretch from 2002-06.
The Redskins listed Chad Rinehart as their starting right guard, filling in for Randy Thomas, whose season ended in the previous game with an arm injury against St. Louis.
