ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – No stranger to in-season quarterback shuffles, Buffalo Bills receiver Lee Evans finds at least one positive now that Ryan Fitzpatrick has the starting job.
It’s better the switch happened early in the season than later, Evans said prior to practice Wednesday as Buffalo (0-2) prepares to play at New England (1-1) on Sunday.
Though Trent Edwards’ benching caught him by surprise, Evans understood a change was needed to spark an offense that’s amassed only 352 yards and scored 17 points in two games.
Comparing the two players, Evans said Fitzpatrick proved last year he’s unafraid to make up plays on the fly.
This marks the fourth time in Evans’ seven years in Buffalo the team has switched starters due to performance.
