TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -Larry Fitzgerald faced double coverage, Anquan Boldin was slowed by a sore hamstring and Steve Breaston was on the sidelines in street clothes.
That meant a big day of receiving for Arizona’s Tim Hightower.
The second-year running back had 12 catches for 121 yards in Sunday’s 20-16 loss to San Francisco, the second-most receptions by a back in Cardinals history. Larry Centers caught 13 in an overtime victory over St. Louis on Sept. 29, 1996.
Quarterback Kurt Warner calls Hightower’s performance “huge” and says he’s getting more and more comfortable throwing to the running back, especially when there’s pressure from the pass rush.
Arizona is at Jacksonville on Sunday.
