PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Eagles will honor former quarterback Randall Cunningham by adding him to the team’s honor roll at halftime of their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback played for the Eagles from 1985-95. He’ll be joined at the ceremony on Sept. 27 by his wife, Felicity, his four children and his brother Sam, who played for the New England Patriots.
“I’m so excited about this,” Cunningham said from his home in Las Vegas. “I can’t wait to get there. I still love Philadelphia.”
It’s the first time this decade the team will add to the honor roll, which includes 27 players and two teams. The last time there was an induction was 1999, when the 1948 and ’49 championship teams and longtime trainer Otho Davis were honored.
The last former player to go into the honor roll was the late Jerome Brown in 1996.
ve ever given my number 12 to any other player, so that’s kind of special in its own right.”
In his 11-year Eagles career, Cunningham threw for 22,877 yards and 150 touchdowns, and rushed for 4,482 yards and 32 touchdowns. He later played for Minnesota, Dallas and Baltimore.
