ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone is in no mood yet to join the chorus of praise being directed at his rookie quarterback.
While Bills players and fans were still buzzing Monday, a day after EJ Manuel displayed poise in pulling out a last-second 24-23 win over Carolina, Marrone wasn’t making any apologies for being a wet blanket.
Marrone repeated the word “No” six times when asked if Manuel’s arrived yet, and added there’s much more room for improvement.
Manuel committed two second-half turnovers, both leading to Carolina field goals. He bounced back by marching the Bills 80 yards over 96 seconds to seal the win with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Stevie Johnson with 2 seconds remaining.
The Bills (1-1) play at the New York Jets (1-1) on Sunday.
