ASHBURN, Va. (AP) – Thursday was Clinton Portis’ day to explain his inflammatory comments about female reporters. Instead, he decided to have some fun with it.
When asked about his remarks at his weekly media availability, the Washington Redskins running back stood at his locker and held up messages on a spiral notebook: “NO COMMENT,” “THANKS FOR COMING,” “GOD BLESS YOU” and “HAVE A GOOD DAY.”
As he held up each sign, defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth put a piece of black athletic tape on Portis’ mouth.
Portis made comments about the dynamics involving female reporters in NFL locker rooms on a radio show Tuesday. The NFL called the remarks offensive, and Portis later apologized through a statement released by the team.
