BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme is not practicing because of a right ankle injury suffered in Sunday’s opener.
Delhomme got hurt while throwing an interception in the first half against Tampa Bay, his debut with the Browns.
Coach Eric Mangini did not reveal medical results and declined to characterize Delhomme’s injury. Mangini said that the 35-year-old QB is “getting better. He’s sore. He’s day to day.”
The Browns will not know until later in the week if Delhomme can start Sunday’s home opener against Kansas City. Mangini hinted it could be a game-time decision.
If Delhomme can’t play, backup Seneca Wallace will start. Wallace, a career backup, made 14 starts during seven seasons with Seattle.
