INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Colts safety Bob Sanders is out indefinitely following surgery to repair a torn biceps muscle in his right arm.
The 2007 NFL defensive player of the year was injured on Houston’s first offensive series Sunday when he landed awkwardly on his shoulders.
Sanders was scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion Wednesday. The team issued its statement while players were still practicing.
For now, the Colts have decided to keep Sanders on the active roster though they did sign safety DaJuan Morgan earlier Wednesday. To make room for Morgan, the Colts waived offensive lineman Joe Reitz.
