ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – Buffalo Bills linebacker Keith Ellison no longer worries about opening a season as a backup or being tagged as someone too small to play the position.
Despite his 6-foot, 220-pound frame, Ellison is aware there’s a good chance he’ll be asked to make a contribution. This year is no different for a player the Bills can start calling “Mr. Reliable.”
Injuries to Paul Posluszny and Kawika Mitchell have led to Ellison being pegged to start Sunday, when the Bills play at Green Bay.
For Ellison, it’ll mark the fourth time in his five seasons in Buffalo he’s been thrust unexpectedly into a starting role. And he sees no reason to be concerned even though he’ll be playing in the team’s newly installed 3-4 system.
