FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -It appears Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo will return to the field at some point this season.
New England coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday he doesn’t think last year’s NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year is done for the year after hurting his right knee in the first quarter of Monday night’s opener.
Belichick said the next update on Mayo’s condition will come on the team’s practice participation report on Wednesday.
The Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills 25-24 with two touchdown passes from Tom Brady to Benjamin Watson in the last 2:06. Belichick attributed some of the team’s early offensive problems to the increased speed of a regular-season game as opposed to preseason practices and games.
