ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -Detroit coach Jim Schwartz saw the Lions show some fight in his first game on the sidelines.
A day after losing to the Saints, Schwartz stepped up at his first weekly news conference Monday and said there aren’t moral victories in the NFL. It was the same message that Rod Marinelli, Dick Jauron, Steve Mariucci and Marty Morhninweg delivered this decade when they were leading the lowly Lions.
After trailing by two touchdowns Sunday at New Orleans, Detroit rallied to make it competitive only to wilt and lose by 18. Their losing streak stands at 18 games, dating to the 2007 season.
Schwartz says what separates teams in the league is how they respond to losses. Detroit will get a chance to bounce back this Sunday at home against Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings.
