ST. LOUIS (AP) -The St. Louis Rams’ new-look offense will have to wait at least a week for a complete debut as new third-receiver Drew Bennett was inactive for Sunday’s opener against Carolina.
Starting right guard Richie Incognito was also inactive with a high ankle sprain that has bothered him for 2 1/2 weeks. He was replaced by Milford Brown while another player who had been considered for that spot, Claude Terrell, was inactive.
Bennett, a free-agent acquisition who was Tennessee’s leading receiver in 2006, has an injured quadriceps.
Backup defensive end Victor Adeyanju was also out after twisting his knee during practice Wednesday.
Carolina was without safety Nate Salley (knee) and defensive end Stanley McClover (thigh). But starting cornerback Chris Gamble, questionable with an ankle injury, was active.
