PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons did not practice again Tuesday because of a high ankle sprain and is not expected to play in the NFL season opener against Tennessee.
Timmons did not take part in any pre-game practices, and Steelers players who do not practice rarely play. Pittsburgh faces the Titans on Thursday.
Timmons, who is moving into the lineup this season, would be replaced by Keyaron Fox, one of the Steelers’ two special teams captains. Fox played four seasons with Kansas City from 2004-07, but did not start any games for Pittsburgh last season.
Linebacker James Farrior says of Fox, “He’s showed all the coaches he knows what to do, and they trust him a lot more now.”
