TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Former NFL player Darion Conner is on his way back to Tampa for a second trial in his DUI-manslaughter case.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2005. Prosecutors said he was driving drunk when he hit and killed a bicyclist.
A judge Monday ordered Conner's return from state prison for a retrial. A state appeals court said in July that a judge improperly allowed prosecutors to show the jury a photograph of the victim lying in the road covered with blood.
Conner spent eight seasons as a linebacker and defensive lineman with four NFL teams.
