ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Josh McDaniels set out to renovate his offensive line and rejuvenate his running backs corps when the 2009 season ended.
An injury epidemic at Dove Valley this offseason has left both groups in a state of flux heading into the Denver Broncos’ season opener at Jacksonville on Sunday.
The Broncos’ offensive line could feature three players taking their first NFL snaps plus All-Pro left tackle Ryan Clady, who returned to action just last week, less than six months since blowing out his left knee.
And the Broncos might have to go with a backfield of backups if Knowshon Moreno’s bothersome right hamstring, which kept him out of the preseason, still hasn’t healed sufficiently.
