SAN DIEGO (AP) -Chargers Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates bruised his hip in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers and was taken to the locker room for treatment.
The team announced that Gates ``will return.''
Gates was hurt when he was tackled after catching a 16-yard pass from Philip Rivers. He spent the offseason rehabbing surgery on his left big toe, which he hurt in a playoff win against the Tennessee Titans.
