CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Panthers signed cornerback Curtis Deloatch on Friday, less than a week after he was cut.
The Panthers released running back Alex Haynes to open up a roster spot for Deloatch, who will help a banged up secondary.
Safety Nate Salley missed practice again Friday with a knee injury and will not play Sunday at St. Louis. Starting cornerback Chris Gamble practiced, but is listed as questionable with a sore ankle.
“We just felt like, with Nate Salley down and we’ve got Gamble on the questionable list, we thought that needed to be done,” coach John Fox said.
Deloatch spent his first two seasons with the New York Giants before playing with New Orleans in 2006. The Panthers signed him in the offseason.
Defensive end Stanley McClover (thigh) also is listed as questionable, but practiced Friday.
