EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – Adrian Peterson says he believes he has a better grasp of how to better grasp the ball.
The Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back has had a fumbling problem over his otherwise-brilliant three-year career, and the aggressive New Orleans Saints are sure to be trying this week to force Peterson into another turnover or two.
Peterson said Monday he’s taught himself to carry the ball high and tight. He also said an extensive offseason video review has revealed he’s more vulnerable to fumbling when he tries to brace himself during a tackle.
Perhaps just as important for Peterson against the Saints are his blitz pick-ups in pass protection, an area where he’s struggled in the past. Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell says Peterson has come a long way.
