PITTSBURGH (AP) -Isaac Redman, whose goal-line running made him the surprise standout of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ training camp, joined the team’s practice squad on Sunday after clearing waivers.
Redman, a non-drafted running back from Bowie State, scored three of the Steelers’ five rushing touchdowns and was their leading rusher during the preseason. He was waived Saturday, after the team chose to keep fifth-round draft pick Frank Summers.
Also returning to the Steelers as practice squad players were center A.Q. Shipley, a seventh-round draft pick from Penn State; defensive tackle Steve McLendon, running back Justin Vincent, tight end Dezmond Sherrod, linebacker Donovan Woods and wide receiver Tyler Grisham.
Defensive end Sonny Harris, a sixth-round draft pick, was claimed by Carolina.
