PITTSBURGH (AP) -Isaac Redman, a non-drafted rookie who was the surprise star of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ training camp, was among 21 players cut Saturday.
Tight end Sean McHugh’s season ended when he was placed on the injured reserve list because of a knee injury. He becomes the second player from last season’s Super Bowl-winning team to go on injured reserve, joining right guard Darnell Stapleton, who had knee surgery early in training camp.
The Steelers, who open the season Thursday against Tennessee, made their cuts Friday but declined to reveal them until Saturday. Coach Mike Tomlin didn’t want other NFL teams to learn of the moves a day before making their own cuts.
