JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – The Jacksonville Jaguars have cut safety Gerald Alexander.
Alexander, who started 10 games last season, announced his departure on Twitter. He tweeted, “Hey folks I’m good y’all don’t trip. What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”
The Jaguars are expected to announce their roster cuts later Saturday.
Alexander had been penciled in to start this season, but he struggled in the preseason and was benched in favor of former first-rounder Reggie Nelson.
Nelson also appears to be on the way out. According to several reports, the Jaguars traded Nelson to the Cincinnati Bengals for cornerback David Jones. That would leave Jacksonville with Anthony Smith, Sean Considine, Tyron Brackenridge and rookie Courtney Greene at safety.
