EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – With 10 days remaining before their regular season opener, the Minnesota Vikings have a lot of work to do to get their offense in sync.
The task begins up front, where the interior of the line is still unsettled.
Starting center John Sullivan has been held out for most of the month because of an injury to his right calf muscle. He was absent from practice again on Monday, and coach Brad Childress said the team is “trying to get some of the soreness out” before clearing Sullivan to return.
That means regular right guard Anthony Herrera might start at center in New Orleans on Sept. 9. Rookie Chris DeGeare has been working in Herrera’s place and could see significant action against the Saints.
