LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) – Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs will not play in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns due to a sprained ankle.
Coach Lovie Smith said Monday that he anticipates the five-time Pro Bowler will be available for the season-opener.
Linebacker Brian Urlacher is back at practice after missing all last week with a left calf strain. His availability for Thursday’s game will be known later in the week.
The Bears are getting healthier as they prepare to face the Browns. Wide receiver Earl Bennett is practicing for the first time since suffering a hamstring pull the first week of training camp. Safety Josh Bullocks (quad muscle) and quarterback Caleb Hanie are also back.
