ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -The Washington Redskins finally have some concrete evidence to support the case for Jason Campbell’s improvement as a quarterback this preseason.
Campbell put up his best August numbers in Friday night’s 27-24 loss to the New England Patriots. Playing the first half and a little bit of the second, Campbell completed 13 of 22 passes for 209 yards and led three scoring drives.
Coach Jim Zorn described what he called “strong footballs” delivered decisively by Campbell and said the quarterback had a good presence in the pocket.
And in another good sign, Campbell has yet to be sacked this preseason.
The backups will get the bulk of the playing time Thursday night in the preseason finale against Jacksonville.
