ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Bills running back Fred Jackson has a sprained left wrist, though the injury is not expected to prevent him from being ready for the start of the regular season.
Jackson missed practice Wednesday, a day after aggravating an injury to his wrist and thumb. Jackson said tests came back negative after he was struck just above the left thumb during a running play.
He expected to test the injury in practice as early as Thursday.
Coach Dick Jauron wouldn’t rule Jackson out from playing in Buffalo’s preseason game at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
The Bills are counting on Jackson to play a key role to start the season by filling in for Marshawn Lynch, who will miss the first three games while serving an NFL suspension.
