NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) -Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid's son was jailed Friday for violating his bail after police said they found 33 pills, including the painkiller hydrocodone, on him.
Britt Reid, 22, of Villanova, was stopped Thursday on suspicion of driving while impaired. Free on bail at the time, he's awaiting sentencing for a January road-rage incident in which police say he brandished a gun at another driver.
Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O'Neill revoked the bail Friday, and police are still awaiting the results from Thursday's blood tests.
As a condition of bail on Aug. 13, when Reid pleaded guilty to gun and drug charges, the judge had ordered him to remain drug-free and limit his driving to his community college classes. Reid faces a possible six- to 14-month jail term on the charges.
``I think everyone should be interested ... in his addiction problems being addressed, and hopefully being conquered. He'll be better off for it, and we'll be a lot safer as well,'' Senior Deputy Attorney General Marc Costanzo said.
Andy Reid refused to discuss his son's legal woes at a press conference.
``If you can stay away from the questions on my family, I'd appreciate it. This is about football and our football team,'' he told reporters.
Britt Reid has not been charged in the latest traffic stop, which came Thursday afternoon in a Plymouth Township parking lot. Police say he struck a shopping cart when police activated their lights, and then failed a sobriety test.
``It was a disappointing day for Andy Reid and his family,'' defense lawyer William Winning said.
The coach's older son, 24-year-old Garrett, also is facing jail time for drug and traffic charges. Garrett Reid admitted he used heroin the day he ran a red light and struck another car. He faces a mandatory minimum of three days in jail.
