LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -The Chicago Bears have added a lot of experience at quarterback with one move
The Bears have signed 38-year-old Todd Collins, who’s played for Washington, Kansas City and Buffalo. He is expected to battle the injured Caleb Hanie for the No. 2 spot behind starter Jay Cutler.
The Bears also signed quarterback Matt Gutierrez last week, but he lacks experience. Now the Bears have five quarterbacks in camp, including 2010 sixth-round draft pick Dan LeFevour and Hanie, who has a shoulder sprain and may not be available until the start of the regular season.
Collins not only adds NFL experience to the Bears roster, but also experience in their offensive system. He played in a similar offense during a 2001-2005 stint with Kansas City.
