NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee linebacker Keith Bulluck kept the cutout photo of Michael Vick on his locker throughout training camp, giving the quarterback the benefit of the doubt that he still might be the Titans’ opponent in 2007.
Not anymore.
Asked if he was sticking with the picture Tuesday, Bulluck said he felt for Vick.
“I got to take him down, though,” Bulluck said.
Would Bulluck wait until a private moment, at least when the locker room was closed to media? No. Bulluck turned around with cameras surrounding him, pulled the photo off the front of his locker and said, “This is as private as it gets.”
The seven-year veteran has no immediate plans to fill the spot and will wait until the season starts to put something up. Joey Harrington, currently starting for Atlanta, isn’t a candidate even though the Falcons visit Tennessee on Oct. 7.
Don’t see Bulluck’s move as condemnation of the Atlanta quarterback.
“I wish Mike Vick the best,” Bulluck said.
“This is people I’m playing against this year. It’s going to be evident that he’s not going to be on the field. … I know Michael Vick, and I know him as a person. That’s why I just said that. Best of luck to him during his times.”
