PITTSBURGH (AP) -An attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says a Nevada woman should drop her rape lawsuit because she sent e-mails and text messages that prove she wasn’t assaulted.
The 31-year-old woman’s lawsuit accuses Roethlisberger of raping her in his room at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe when he was there to play in a celebrity golf tournament in July 2008.
Roethlisberger’s lawyer has denied the allegations. He says he obtained e-mails in which the woman writes that she was looking forward to having dinner with the quarterback and other celebrities two days after the alleged attack. Text messages five months later show the woman saying she would date Roethlisberger.
The woman’s attorney didn’t return a message left by The Associated Press.
