PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Michael Vick and several other Philadelphia Eagles will not travel with the team for their preseason game at Indianapolis.
Vick is allowed to travel with the team, but is not eligible to play in Thursday night’s game.
Coach Andy Reid does not usually bring players on road trips if they are not going to play. Other prominent Eagles not making the trip include running back Brian Westbrook, offensive linemen Shawn Andrews and Jason Peters, and cornerback Sheldon Brown. They are all injured or recovering from an injury.
Vick, who has been practicing with the Eagles, can only play in the last two preseason games, starting with a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 27.
Vick ran the scout team on Thursday, calling the plays for an offense that included Westbrook and starting tight end Brent Celek.
Reid said Vick has shown more confidence and moves better in the pocket with each practice.
