LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell left the first quarter of Saturday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a knee injury.
Campbell was hit flush on the left knee by Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel, who beat rookie free agent left tackle Stephon Heyer and stumbled as he kept up his pursuit. Keisel was assessed with a personal foul for a low hit on a quarterback in the pocket.
Campbell, who completed the pass for a 29-yard gain to tight end Chris Cooley, grabbed his knee in pain and remained on the field for a couple of minutes before gingerly limping to the sideline. The Redskins said the initial diagnosis was a bruised knee.
Heyer was playing in place of Pro Bowl tackle Chris Samuels, who has been sidelined with a sprained knee.
Campbell was replaced by Todd Collins, who is competing with Mark Brunell for the Redskins' No. 2 spot.
