EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New York Giants are uncertain whether Eli Manning will be able to play in Saturday’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Tom Coughlin says Manning was still in some discomfort on Tuesday and was undergoing a battery of tests to make sure he did not suffer a concussion after having his helmet knocked off and being hit in a head. He suffered a gash on the left side of his forehead that required 12 stitches to close in the Giants’ 31-16 win over the Jets on Monday night.
Manning was having the tests at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City on Tuesday. Coughlin said he would not make a guess about his quarterback’s status until he sees the results.
Manning is expected to rejoin the Giants at training camp in Albany, N.Y. on Tuesday night.
