EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Mark Sanchez let his first pass of the game fly – and watched it get tipped into a defender’s hands.
Not exactly the way the New York Jets quarterback wanted to get started Monday night.
Three plays later, the Giants scored. But instead of beating himself up, Sanchez couldn’t wait to get back to work.
Sanchez bounced back nicely in the 31-16 loss, finishing 13 for 17 for 119 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown pass to Brad Smith, in two mostly sharp quarters.
Fullback Tony Richardson says that it was a sign of Sanchez’s increasing maturity in his second season.
Sanchez also showed no signs of being tentative in his first game since having the patella-stabilizing ligament in his left knee repaired in February.
