BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Cleveland Browns punter Dave Zastudil is out for the season because of a right knee injury.
Coach Eric Mangini said Zastudil’s surgically repaired knee was not responding, so the team decided to place him on injured reserve, ending his season before it started. Zastudil missed eight games last season with a torn patellar tendon in his plant leg.
Zastudil had an operation during the offseason, and recently visited his surgeon after having problems during training camp.
Mangini said he expects the 31-year-old Zastudil to do all he can to get back on the field next season.
Reggie Hodges will take over as Cleveland’s starting punter. He handled kicks when Zastudil was out last season.
