OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -Dallas Cowboys right tackle Marc Colombo was headed to arthroscopic surgery to remove five loose particles from his right knee, yet is expected to play in the season opener.
Team owner Jerry Jones said Monday that doctors were optimistic Colombo would be fine in 10 to 14 days. He was hurt in practice Sunday.
Colombo missed the final seven games of the regular season last year, but that was because of his left ankle.
Doug Free replaced him last season, but is now the starter at left tackle. Youngsters Robert Brewstere and Sam Young are the likely fill-ins Saturday night against San Diego.
