MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says veteran Matt Cassel will play most of the first half in the team's second preseason game against Arizona on Saturday night.
Cassel appears to have the edge over rookie Teddy Bridgewater for the starting job in Minnesota. Zimmer has yet to announce his choice, but Cassel says he is eager to get more playing time with the starters to sharpen his comfort level in Norv Turner's new offense.
Arizona coach Bruce Arians says Carson Palmer and most of his starters will not see much playing time. Arians doesn't want to risk injury and says he wants to get a look at some of the younger players fighting for backup spots.
