JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -First-round draft pick Eugene Monroe ended a 12-day holdout on Friday by signing a five-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Monroe, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound left tackle taken No. 8 from Virginia, joined his teammates for practice Friday night. He probably won’t play in Monday night’s preseason opener at Miami.
Financial details of the contract weren’t immediately available, but it was expected to be in line with the deal Green Bay defensive tackle B.J. Raji agreed to Thursday. Raji, the ninth pick, reportedly agreed to a five-year, $28.5 million deal that included just under $18 million guaranteed.
Monroe had been expected to start this season, but he fell behind three-time Pro Bowler Tra Thomas and Jordan Black after missing 22 workouts.
