BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Colt McCoy isn’t a patient person. The Browns’ rookie quarterback is learning to be one. He has no choice.
The winningest quarterback in college history, McCoy has begun his NFL career as Cleveland’s third-stringer behind starter Jake Delhomme and backup Seneca Wallace.
The former Texas star understands he has a lot to learn as a pro and has immersed himself in Cleveland’s playbook as he waits for his chance to show what he can do.
McCoy, who threw two interceptions in the Browns’ scrimmage last week, is looking forward to making his debut on Saturday late in the second half of Cleveland’s exhibition opener at Green Bay.
McCoy said he has been soaking up all he can during his first training camp. Browns coach Eric Mangini praised McCoy’s football IQ and believes the 23-year-old has a bright future.
