METAIRIE, La. (AP) -The defending champion New Orleans Saints have opened training camp with the look of a team that has it all figured out.
No one is holding out for more money. Everybody reported without any significant, season-threatening injuries. And no players have been barred from practice because they couldn’t pass a conditioning test.
Saints running back Pierre Thomas says players are more focused on team goals than individual issues, which is why he and several teammates who are unhappy with their contracts have been on the field through the first 10 days of camp.
Fullback Heath Evans says the no-nonsense approach stems from the examples set by coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees.
