MIAMI (AP) -A suspect in the slaying of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor no longer wants to withdraw his guilty plea.
After meeting privately with his mother and attorney Friday, 21-year-old Venjah Hunte told a judge he’s ending his effort to withdraw the plea. Hunte pleaded guilty last year and agreed to testify against four co-defendants in exchange for a 29-year sentence.
Hunte had previously claimed he didn’t fully understand the details of his plea deal.
The 24-year-old Taylor died after being shot in an attempted robbery at his home in November 2007. He was an All-Pro safety with the Redskins who starred in college at the University of Miami.
All five suspects are from the Fort Myers area. Their trial is currently set for Jan. 18.
