METAIRIE, La. (AP) -Bobby McCray says his decision not to hold a grudge against the New Orleans Saints is paying off.
After appearing in every Saints game for the past two years, McCray was unexpectedly released in late June.
Rather than get angry, the veteran defensive end asked for a second chance and was signed back by the Saints a week before training camp began.
Now McCray is sharing first-team practice snaps at left end with Alex Brown, who is also McCray’s longtime friend and former college teammate at Florida.
Defensive line coach Bill Johnson says competition between McCray and Brown has been healthy and could require several weeks of evaluation to see who comes out on top.
