ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -When the Washington Redskins make a coaching change, they really make a coaching change.
Every move in 11 years under owner Dan Snyder has flipped the team from one extreme to the other, alternating back and forth between the laid-back approach of Norv Turner, Steve Spurrier and Jim Zorn and the more strict regimes of Marty Schottenheimer, Joe Gibbs and Mike Shanahan.
Players say they welcome new coach Shanahan’s sense of discipline, but they also said the same after Schottenheimer and Gibbs were hired.
Center Casey Rabach has been through enough 180-degree changes that he knows better than to guarantee success. Asked about the latest switch, he laughed and said: “Who knows if this works? You never know.”
