BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Defensive back Chris Roberson was carted off the Cleveland Browns’ training field with an undisclosed injury.
Roberson, signed as a free agent in January, twisted awkwardly while trying to defend a pass against Josh Cribbs during a morning practice Wednesday. He crumpled to the ground, Cribbs fell on top of him and then made a spectacular one-handed grab.
Fans applauded the catch, then the camp fell silent when Roberson did not get up immediately. After being attended to by trainers, he was helped to his feet, placed on a cart and taken from the field.
Roberson played six games for Jacksonville in 2005 after being drafted by the Jaguars in the seventh round out of Eastern Michigan. He missed the next two seasons with a shoulder injury and played one game for the Detroit Lions in 2009.
